Planting By The Moon
New Moon Phase
New Moon Phase
The New Moon phase is the period to plant, graft or transplant crops that grow above ground.
This phase is especially good for crops that produce seeds outside the fruit as well as cereals and grains.
This phase is not a good time to pick your garden’s crop as it will tend to rot very easily.
It is however the optimal time to mow lawns if you want to increase lawn growth.
First Quarter Phase
First Quarter Phase
The First Quarter phase is also a great time to undertake all the activities listed in the new moon phase, but is especially suited to plant, graft or transplant crops that bear fruit above ground and have seeds inside fruit (e.g. chillies, capsicums, tomatoes or zucchini).
The last two days before the Full Moon are considered best times for planting and grafting.
Full Moon Phase
Full Moon Phase
The Full Moon phase is the preferred time to plant perennials, biennials and plants that produce crop below ground (e.g. Onions, Carrots, Parsnips, etc.).
It is also the best time for pruning and harvesting of all crops.
Recommended time for sprouting seeds to eat but not for planting as strong initial growth but poor follow-on growth.
